Students with Disabilities

Newburgh Prep’s students with disabilities are entitled to a Free and Appropriate Education (FAPE). Through active recruitment procedures, Newburgh Prep engages and enrolls students with disabilities. In all cases, the student is educated in the least restrictive environment (LRE) consistent with state and federal laws and guidelines.

The Newburgh Enlarged City School District’s (NECSD) Committee on Special Education (CSE) evaluates, identifies, and develops a plan under the Individualized Education Program (IEP) for Newburgh Prep’s special education students. This plan is consistent with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

In accordance with NYS Education Law Section 2853(4), Newburgh Prep provides students with services required by an IEP. With parents, students, and Newburgh Prep staff working together, decisions will be made to determine the best location for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
