Newburgh Prep embraces all students to ensure equal opportunity. Through proactive efforts, students who primarily speak a language other than English are identified and enrolled. Newburgh Prep implements a freestanding English as a Second Language (ESL) Program to provide instruction.
Students are assessed and an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) is developed for ELL students. Using a push-in model, the ELL teacher works collaboratively with classroom teachers during instruction. When it is in the best interest of the student, the student may be pulled out of the normal learning environment for the ELL teacher to work with him or her individually.
